Short-Term Psychotherapy

Short-term psychotherapy is particularly useful when the focus is on a specific area, e.g. clients who are in crisis or have shorter- term temporary issues, such as work problems, parenting issues, relationships crises, general stress, grief reactions, life transitions, adjustments to significant changes such as marriage, loss of a relationship, and having children, etc. brief therapy can be used to help the person understand what he or she has been through emotionally that brought about the symptoms.

Motivation for change is an important characteristic that is vital to the success of time- limited work. Criteria such as ego-strength and capacity to form relationships are seen as particularly important in brief therapy.
